“I sat down to watch a documentary and ended up watching a thriller” - Prof Botany, Jo’berg University

Described by many as the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World,’ the Eden Project in Cornwall turned a disused claypit the size of 35 football pitches into one of the world’s most visited gardens. A place where you can see, hear and touch the ‘Plants that Changed the World’: coffee, rubber, cocoa, rice, tea, the spices and over 20,000 trees. Award-winning cameraman Robin Kewell filmed the project from start to finish, nine years and nearly 4,000 hours of footage capturing this ‘roller coaster ride’

The film shows how a big idea can be transformed into reality by a small, determined and hard working team driven by a strong leader,Tim Smit, an ex-rock guitarist who discovered the “Lost Gardens of Heligan”. Tim and his team gave up their paid jobs and their personal lives on this journey into the unknown which resulted in the biggest greenhouses in the world.

The music for the film was composed, arranged and performed by Jim Carey and many musician friends, the final work features the voices of the massed choirs of Cornwall, with over 1,000 voices!

“Jim Carey’s music makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, the body tingle, this is powerful stuff indeed” - Music Review, 2005

The film will be presented by film-maker Robin Kewell on Sunday only with a Q & A session after the screening. Parts 3 and 4 start on Sunday 4th November.
