On 20th September, the first meeting of a FFLAG (Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gay men) group meets in Kamo. There is nothing quite like sharing with others that have had a similar experience, and for many parents, realising that their child is not heterosexual is a difficult time when they let go of dreams they held, and realise powerfully how their child is a person in their own right.

One parent Pat, said “I really found it difficult at first, and it took quite a bit of time to think things through.” She and other parents who have had some time to think things through want to provide the opportunity for other family of gay and lesbian people to share their experiences and perspectives.

Further information about meetings is available by calling the office at Saint Paul’s Centre 435 2396 or emailing fflag@kamo.org.nz. Personal support is available at Saint Paul’s from the Anglican Ministry Team 0210583785 or Methodist/Presbyterian Minister 4591967.
