Where: Lembas Cafe, 34 Poplar Ave, Raumati, Kapiti Coast

Seriously hot picked country rock and blues. This hot little outfit returns to Lembas, playing a searing blend of country rock and blues with elements of boogie and swing in the mix.

Finger picking blues exponent, Bob Cooper-Grundy, is one of New Zealand’s foremost acoustic guitarist in Americana styles. Stand back - he’s hot. Bob’s a real deal blues man whose fingers do the talking on guitar, slide guitar, mandolin and banjo. Our very own Karen Clarke’s gutsy, smoky vocals and driving rhythm guitar make her a compelling front gal. She has an onstage presence that critics describe as anything from raw to sassy in shades of blue. Completing the front line is multi-instrumentalist Kate Marshall who brings exceptional interpretive magic and finesse. Kate fires up the mix with commanding leads on violin, flute and accordion. On drums is Wayne “Swampy” Morris who joins the band from home base in Taranaki. Mr Rhythm! Bassist Warwick Hill is the energetic guy driving hard way down deep. He brings funk/rock sensibilities and cuts it clichés here!

Expect a big sound with a whole lot of punch that’ll take you up country, down the river and back home again. Hard Candy recently released their debut album “100 Cups of Coffee”.
