Sirocco the kakapo. He's been billed as a national treasure, a living legend and a rockstar. He's charismatic, enigmatic and intriguing, he commands his own seat in an aeroplane. He even has more than 11,000 Facebook fans and will be the subject of a discussion at the Waikato Management School at the University of Waikato (MSB.1.05).

Chris Smut-Kennedy, an ecologist for Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust, will talk the about internet-sensation Sirocco who will be in residence at Maungatautari Ecological Island in August.

Sirocco rose to fame courtesy of a documentary made by British filmmaker Stephen Fry, who captured the bird trying to mate with a nearby zoologist. The footage, now on YouTube, has been viewed over 4 million times making Sirocco an internet sensation.

Kakapo are critically endangered, only 126 are left in the world.
