Kohia Terrace School is proud to be hosting its 8th exhibition & sale of contemporary art, one of Auckland’s most popular school exhibitions.

Kohia Art Chairperson Julie Kippenberger says the exhibition and sale will feature work by about 90 New Zealand artists, including a selection of new emerging talent. “Many of our artists will be the same favourites as last year, but we have also targeted some new artists to keep the exhibition of sculpture, glass, fine art, photography and ceramics fresh and interesting. There’ll certainly be something to cater for all tastes.”

Those already confirmed to exhibit include Jeff Thomson, Russell Jackson, Belinda Griffiths, Neal Palmer, Richard Killeen and Jane Gray.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for first time art buyers or experienced collectors to find something special. We may be a small school but we are a fabulous one, and we will be working hard to keep the Kohia Terrace Exhibition firmly on the Auckland art map,” says school principal Alison Spence.

The exhibition, begins with a ticketed gala opening evening. Tickets can be purchased by emailing or from the school’s office, ph 09 630 4525.

“Those at the gala evening are the lucky ones, as they will have the first opportunity to purchase one of the works.”

The exhibition will remain open throughout the weekend, with free admission. Opening hours are 11am to 5pm on Saturday June 9 and 11am to 3pm on Sunday June 10 (door donations welcomed).

A selection of previous years’ works can be viewed online at the website, and new works will be revealed as June approaches.
