Terrace Downs resort have the pleasure of hosting a dynamic husband and wife artistic team, Marion Towns and James Boardman in July. Together they present an assortment of works that has a refreshing burst of NZ flavour and with an added pinch of natural beauty.

Marion Towns is an artist with an impressive 28 years experience and that is illustrated in her vibrant pastel landscapes. Her artistic portfolio is certainly impressive showing that her works have been globally exhibited for over 20 years and her painting images have been commissioned by many large NZ companies such as Phillips NZ; Ellis, Gould & Chapman; Tripp, Sheffield & Young; Command Farm Vineyards and a Japanese tourist guide to New Zealand.

Her list of awards and exhibitions is so extensive that it fills 6 A4 pages!

Marion specialises in the use of pastels in her landscapes, that gives her art and the viewer a sense of excitement and energy that cannot be compared to any other artist.

James Boardman has been creating for many years and was chosen as the Nelson and Bays winner of the Telecom Phone book cover awards. James creates magnificent jewellery and sculptures in a series that is titled “Sculptured by Nature” and features NZ organic material in its natural form. James likes to work with the raw natural beauty of NZ and project that into items of art so that they can be treasured for a lifetime. Jame’s Marble sculptures are inspired by a recent trip to the ancient Roman ruins.

Arts Director, Rachael Inch commented “I had the pleasure of meeting Marion and James last year and James had gifted me a pair of stunning paua earrings, I love them and the way that they seem so natural yet they are sculptured into a fashionable look. Marion’s paintings leave me with a sense of belonging to NZ yet at the same time they leave me feeling adventurous to explore the beautiful places that she chooses as her subject. I’m really looking forward to introducing them to the Selwyn district. I hope that many can attend the opening evening to meet them personally as it’s an opportunity that you just cannot miss”

The collection of works will be unveiled at the opening in Hunters Dining room at Terrace Downs Resort on Thursday 5th July at 6:30pm, seated by 7pm for full buffet priced at $45pp. The evening is complimented by the amazing talented Kris Trousselot on the baby grand piano. Together, the elements of Kris’s beautiful sounds, the delicious food, the stunning artwork and the jovial company makes it a night out well worth attending.

For those who cannot make it to the opening, the exhibition runs from 5th July – 2nd August 2012. Bookings are essential to the opening night and can be made directly at the resort or through Rachael Inch at the below details.
