Music is made for sharing; no one knows this better than 10-year old, Melanie Pinkney, whose hard work will all seem worthwhile when she uses it to enrich the lives of others.

Violin will resonate with piano, as Melanie, 10, & her accompanist, Ching-Fen Lee, perform Mozart’s Violin Sonata in E minor, Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances, & Kreisler’s Praeludium und Allegro.

Along with these they will play two concertos rarely heard in Manawatu. The first, Op.9, No. 7 by Pierre Rode, whose violin caprices form the staple diet of any serious violinist, the second, by his teacher, Giovanni Battista Viotti; a more elaborate work deemed to be for the young, so not usually included in emerging violinists concerto repertoire, but too complicated for many youngsters to attempt. Melanie will present the first movement of this Violin Concerto No. 22 in A minor by Viotti.

Entry is by donation so as not to inhibit any attending who may wish to. Donations will firstly cover the concert costs, with any surplus going directly to Melanie’s music lessons.

For all who enjoy melodious music, come and be treated to an afternoon of it. Held in Evelyn Rawlins Room, 1st Floor, Square Edge.
