Where: Featherston Oval, Clifford Square, Featherston, Wairarapa

Welcome to the magical world of small trains.Come ride the rail on a miniature train and visit the model trains in the historic ANZAC Hall. Cross Creek Railway's 'Mini' Train Festival will delight you with visiting miniature trains to ride on for you and your children, and many things to do!

'Dolly' Dolgoch will be there with her brother 'Brynglas' from Wellington. Both are beautiful replicas of a Welsh Slate Mine Engine. Dolgoch opened the passenger service on the Talyllyn Line in Wales in 1866, she is still in service working the preserved Talyllyn Line. 'Mini' Fell is coming. Mini Fell is a replica of the famous H199 Fell Engine used on the Rimutaka Incline. 'Fairley' Steam Locomotive from Wellington will be there; a replica of a delightful-looking engine that was made in Bristol in the 1880s. The Fairley was assigned to the Wellington-Summit, and in later years was used in the Wairarapa as it was a good steamer and rode well.

Visit the model trains in the Historic ANZAC Hall. Here you will see models and lay-outs to admire, and be inspired to learn how to make your own model railway.

Other things to do and see: variety stalls, food for all tastes, watch the Medieval Tournament fighting on foot with wooden swords and sheilds, say hi to Rainbow the Clown listen to live music, buy a raffle, picnic in Cherry Tree Park, go for a walk on Featherston HeritageTrails, enjoy the Children's Playground and Skate Park, visit The Fell and Heritage Museums.
