Taiaha String Quartet:
The Taiaha String Quartet will play movements from great works by Haydn ("The Bird" Quartet), Beethoven (String Quartet No 15 in A minor Op 132) and Janacek (Quartet No. 1 "Kreutzer Sonata").

They are a very exciting group who perform with dazzling energy and commitment. The quartet comprises brilliant young violinists Ngaruaroha Martin (Hillary Scholar and 2011 Concerto Competition finalist) and Jin Kim (both in their 2nd year studying music at Waikato University), Honours year violist Adam Maha (Hillary Scholar) who is principal viola with the National Youth Orchestra and also assistant conductor of the University Orchestra, and cellist Tamsin Kreymbourg graduate of Waikato University (Hillary Scholar) who has just returned from 2 years studying cello at the Leopold Mozart Academy of Music in Augsburg.

Mousai Piano Trio:
The Mousai Piano Trio (comprising Emily Campbell, Timothy Carpenter, and Monica Chang) will perform beautiful works by composers including Babadjanian, Beethoven (Ghost Trio), and Dvorak.

Honours violinist Emily Campbell, also a developing actor, has already completed her BA majoring in Theatre Studies and is now completing her Music Degree with Honours. Throughout all her studies at Waikato University she has been a central figure in the Music Dept chamber music groups, contributing to many stunning performances. 3rd year cellist Timothy Carpenter (Hillary Scholar) was a concerto competition finalist this year. A dedicated and passionate musician of many parts, he is also a gifted pianist, singer and organist and is beginning to developing his interest in choral conducting. Beautiful pianist Monica Chang is a graduate of the University of Waikato who has chosen to return to form the Mousai Piano Trio with Emily and Tim.

Larchmont Clarinet Trio:
The Larchmont Clarinet Trio, formed in 2009, comprises clarinetist Nathaniel Smorti, pianist Andrew Leathwick, and cellist Yotam Levy These three young musical geniuses - all Hillary Scholars - will perform the great clarinet trios of Beethoven (Op 11) Brahms (Op 114) and John Psathas.

This year Nathaniel was the top clarinetist in the 2012 NZ Woodwind Competition, Andrew was the winner of the 2012 University of Waikato Concerto Competition and recently toured the region with the Opus Orchestra as soloist in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No 1. Yotam is a cellist of rare genius and an extraordinary musical thinker.
