Eventfinda tickets no longer on sale
Feb 6th is the launch of the newest little Festival, in the best little place. Music, art, kai and more just 35 minutes from the city at Muriwai, Auckland's most spectacular surf beach.
Set within native bush overlooking NZ's wildest West Coast Beach, the first Waitangi Day Muriwai Festival is a festival with a difference. It's an opportunity for families to drive past the strawberry fields and vineyards of Kumeu to a quiet clearing of native bush. Just 35 minutes from Ponsonby Rd and a short walk from one of NZ's most spectacular surf beaches, Anika Moa, Moana & the Tribe, Pacific Curls, Nat Rose, Majic and more will be singing the tune that ‘Every Day is Waitangi Day.’
Over 15 painters, photographers, sculptors, jewellers etc that live in and around Muriwai Beach will be creating new works for sale as part of a special Waitangi Day Exhibition. A hikoi to sacred sites at the venue and guests getting grilled onstage in ‘the Hot Seat, then a hangi-in-a-pie... something for everyone.
With all music, art, cuisine, korero and crafts acknowledging 'Every Day is Waitangi Day,' a strict zero waste, alcohol and smoke free policy and limited ticket sales, the Muriwai Waitangi Day Festival kicks off 2012 on just the right note. Just as you would expect from ‘the newest little festival in the best little place…’
Bring a blanket to sit on. Free water (so bring something to put it in!) and free entry for under 12 years. Big thanks to Te Waka Toi (Creative NZ) and Auckland City Council mo te putea.
Oh, did we mention that all ticket proceeds go towards the fundraiser for the new Muriwai Lifesaving Club & Community Centre & an iwi project...
* Please note: There are NO ATMs in Muriwai - CASH only.'
