Join New Zealand's favourite jazz musician and saxophonist, Nathan Haines, for a special intimate concert proudly supported by KBB Music and Backbeat.

As June sees Nathan's permanent return to UK shores, catch this last special concert for the year while you can!

After spending a whole month in the New Zealand Top 20 after its March release, Nathan's stunning new acoustic quartet recording "The Poet's Embrace" will be performed live along with material from pianist and long-term Haines collaborator, Kevin Field for this very special evening concert.

Hailed unanimously by critics as Haines' finest album, "The Poet's Embrace" has re-written the book for acoustic analogue jazz in this country and beyond, and the live show will reflect the exciting, live and improvised nature of hearing a real quartet in top form.

Joining Nathan will be Kevin Field, who released his excellent third album "Field of Vision" through Haines' label Haven Music recently, plus acoustic bassist Ben Turua and drummer Steve Thomas.

Last year Nathan played to a sold-out audience at London's legendary Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, and he's very pleased to announce two new dates at Ronnie Scotts in October, and in a very exciting move for the pair, Kevin Field will be joining Nathan and his UK band for two nights, to promote the European release of "The Poet's Embrace".

Please check out these recent links of Nathan Haines playing material from the "The Poet's Embrace".

"It's everything I love about the 'classic' period of jazz - it's warm, it swings, it's intimate, and as the title would suggest, it's poetic in a lyrical sense" - 5 stars, Sunday Star Times.

"The playing is all beautifully tasteful and nuanced. It feels like a classic ensemble record - one that's cool not for it's innovation, but because it sounds like the greats." - 5 stars, New Zealand Herald.

"It's reflective, calming, celebratory but also absolutely pure jazz. It's like something from another age." - Greg Dixon, Canvas Magazine, New Zealand Herald.

"It is the best jazz album made in New Zealand ever and probably the best jazz album I’ve heard in years. His playing is amazing. Tender melody lines. Explosive riffs. Comprehensive technique. He is in total control of his instrument." - Andrew Dickens, Newstalk ZB website
