Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music holds it's annual Concerto Competition final. This competition final is also one of the concert highlights of the year.

From a semifinal round held earlier this year, five finalists have been selected. They will perform their chosen concertos, with piano accompaniment, in tonight's Finals concert, judged by Euan Murdoch, Chief Executive of Chamber Music New Zealand.

The winner of tonight's competition will perform their chosen concerto accompanied by the NZSM Orchestra, conducted by Ken Young, in their fourth concert this year in St Andrew's on The Terrace on 11 October.

The 2012 finalists (and their works) are:
Lucy Gijsbers (cello) - Schumann 'Cello Concerto';
Sam Jones (saxophone) - 'Concerto de Camera' by Ibert;
Jennifer Newth (harp) - 'Karohirohi' by Gillian Whitehead;
Kate Oswin (violin) - Mendelssohn 'Violin Concerto';
John Roxburgh (viola) - Walton 'Viola Concerto';

All welcome.
