NZSM Friday Lunchtime Concert: Martin Riseley

Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music is pleased to present a concert of solo violin music from Head of Strings and Associate Director Dr Martin Riseley.

Martin will perform a programme of four works:
'Elegie' by Igor Stravinsky
'Sonata' (1944) by Bela Bartok
'Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento' by Niccolò Paganini
'Chaconne à son gout' by Franz Waxman

Martin Riseley was born in Christchurch. He won the Television New Zealand Young Musicians Competition and the Australian Guarantee Corporation Young Achievers Award in 1988. At the Juilliard School of Music from 1989 he studied with Dorothy Delay and became a teaching fellow in the Pre-College Division of the Julliard. He graduated in 1996 with a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree. Martin has performed with most leading New Zealand orchestras and has played in Mexico, Australia, Japan and Great Britain. He was appointed Head of Strings at Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music in 2009 and became an Associate Director in 2011.

The concert is free and members of the public are welcome.
