Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music hosts a lunchtime concert on its Kelburn Campus.

In this concert, visiting Fullbright scholar Prof Claudine Bigelow (viola) is joined by Dr Martin Riseley (violin, NZSM Head of Strings) and Inbal Megiddo (NZSM lecturer in cello), in a performance of Mozart's Divertimento for String Trio in Eflat, K563.

While the trio is widely regarded as separate from his other divertimenti, the work shares the same six-movement form: Allegro; Adagio; Minuet; Andante (theme and 4 variations); Minuet (with two different trios) and Allegro (rondo). Mozart wrote it in 1788, the year in which he completed his last three symphonies and his "Coronation" Piano Concerto, and dedicated it to Michael Puchberg, a fellow Freemason.

"[The Trio] is a true chamber-music work, and grew to such large proportions only because it was intended to offer...something special in the way of art, invention, and good spirits...Each instrument is 'primus inter pares', every note is significant, every note is a contribution to spiritual and sensuous fulfillment in sound...[it is] one of his noblest works." - Alfred Einstein, 'Mozart: His Character, His Work'

Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
