Southern rivalry at its best. Skaters from Christchurch and Nelson will face off to end all southern rivalries. The last time these teams competed, the crowd was left holding their breath as the Otautahi Roller Derby League took out the Sirens of Smash by only a few points. The teams have been saving up their hardest hits for this rematch.

To start the night with a bang, freshly graduated skaters will be on the track to earn their first bruises. There will be fishnets, frills, and face paint galore as the Dames de los Muertos take on the Southern Belles. These teams consist of skaters from both leagues, so pick a side and hold on tight for this southern showdown.

Later, Pioneer Stadium will see the athleticism for which it is so revered as the All-Stars strap on their skates. There won’t be time for fake plays in this game. The hits are real, the falls are impressive. The way these athletes continue to get back on their feet is inspiring. If you have ever thought that rugby players were intimidating, you’ve never lined up against these ladies. This is a match to make you glad you’re in the audience instead of on the track.

The dramatics and athleticism of roller derby are set to combine in this one off event. Otautahi’s last bout Gaga v Glee saw a packed stadium, so don’t miss out this time around. Choose your loyalties wisely though; these southern girls can hold a grudge.

Tickets are available through Cosmic Ticketing, or can be purchased on the night. Doors open at 5pm.
