LA band Rough Church fronted by well known rocker Greg Franco hit New Zealand and Australian shores this March to promote the band's latest album "The Wow Signal" released on NZ label Powertool Records. Born in Los Angeles and raised musically in the LA '90s music scene, Greg Franco has shared bills with artists such as Beck, Possum Dickson, Perry Ferrell and Lutefisk.

Greg wears his American art-rock influences proudly on his sleeve (guided by Voices, Pavement, the Minutemen) and by night secretly channels the well known Dunedin sound from NZ. After being booked to play with the Clean in the states in 2001 a beautiful relationship with New Zealand developed. Tours of NZ followed as well as collaborations with David Kilgour and shows with Bob Scott, Mini snap, Otis mace and Dragstrip. As well as mesmerising introspective rock n roll tunes his latest album includes an uncompromising 15 minute noise art track dedicated to the famous alien contact, the wow signal of 1974. Now that's rock. On this latest album Rough Church also cover “Goodbye to Greg” written by Chris Knox.

Rough Church will be playing in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin as well as their first ever Australian dates in Melbourne and Sydney. Greg says: "Hell, Rough Church is looking forward to getting down there and rocking out with all our New Zealand friends. It’s a little more roll than rock this time but still on the funky and angsty side".

"Forget the Ken Burns transition, jagged cut and paste to Greg Franco’s present incarnation, “Rough Church” it’s a labor of the last few years that can be called none other than fringe Americana." - Christina Long, The trouble with milk

"It’s got a kick to it that warms up the soul. They will bring the Tapatio" - Mt. Washington Times.

"An iconic auteur." - L.A. Weekly
