Sergey Malov, winner of the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, will perform for the Waikanae Music Society on Sunday 1 July, accompanied by New Zealand's most respected pianist Michael Houstoun. This will be the last concert in Sergey Malov's extended tour of the country for Chamber Music New Zealand.

2011 was a stunning year for this young Russian violinist. He won the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, before winning a hat-trick as he scooped the top prize along with the inaugural Julian Paul Anderson Award for best chamber music player and the Audience Prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand.

For his Waikanae concert he will play:

Schubert: Sonata in A minor, D821 (Viola and Piano) "Arpeggione"
Bartók: Sonata for Solo Violin
Schumann: Sonata No 1 in A minor, Opus 105
Paganini: La Campanella
