The artist:
Shannon Marjason majored in sculpture at Hungary Creek Art School. She currently works as a wax-proofer in a fine art bronze-casting studio in Auckland, and is involved with every step of the casting process - creating the sculptures from the original to the mould, right through to the patina.

Inspired by contemporary styles, Shannon effortlessly blends manga, retro and science fiction, creating and capturing the many facets of life. This collection of unique bronze sculptures is a reflection of our alter ego, and the many facets of our subconscious minds that creates them.

The Alter Ego:
Another aspect of one's self. Not necessarily identifiable, it has no face, but operates through ours. It is in a way our second self, the other side of our personality, or another persona to express different facets of our personality. Some are comic, some are terrifying, some are misguided.

There are also things that only the alter ego could get away with. In some cases it is hard to distinguish which character is really the alter ego. The works are made up of many facets and many characters, as is the human psyche.
