Three of New Zealand’s finest singer songwriters lay their hearts and voices on the line.

Featuring Don McGlashan, the New Zealand music legend from such iconic bands as The Plague, From Scratch, The Whizz Kids, Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn, The Mutton Birds and 2009’s The Bellbirds; the former frontwoman of Fur Patrol, Julia Deans, whose voice ranges from honey-sweet falsetto to menacing growl, and Anna Coddington, one of New Zealand’s foremost heroines of independent pop music.

Asked to think about mortality, they celebrate the power of song in this spell-binding and intimate performance. The first song is the song that turned them on to music. Next a song from a favourite songwriter. Then the song they wish they had written, a song or two of their own, and finishing with the song they wish to leave behind and be remembered by.

Our thanks to the Christchurch Arts Festival for commissioning this work.

‘Such fine singing from the best of our singer-songwriters – and such a wonderfully personal connection with their audiences.’
– Phillip Tremewan, Director, Christchurch Arts Festival.
‘5 stars, orgasmic rock-und-roll experience.’
– Monday Magazine (Canada)
‘A class act. Excruciatingly funny.’ – The Age
