Wednesday 14 March

Clap Clap Riot
Clap Clap Riot are a band drenched in rock n’ roll and sprinkled with pop sweetness. Packed with edgy hooks and mixed with wild vocals the band have been compared to internationally recognised bands like The Easybeats, The Hives and The Buzzcocks along with receiving rave reviews from New Zealand media for their highly energetic and captivating live performance.

Kolab’s live offering as evolved from their classic three-piece hip hop beginnings (one DJ and two emcees) to a true live performance. Whilst keeping their initial three elements, they have dropped live percussion, guitar and a two-piece horn section into the seven piece melting pot leading to a fun, yet cool, and sophisticated style and a very loyal and substantial fanbase.

Iva Lamkum
Iva Lamkum treats audiences to a sophisticated, intelligent and unique sound that has seen her become the rising star everyone’s talking about. Described as “the definition of one to watch” (Rip It Up), many are tipping this extraordinary singer songwriter to go far. Her soulfully rich voice delivers a funk-soul sound peppered with elements of jazz and rock that crowds can’t get enough of.

Knights of the Dub Table
Knights of the Dub Table combine elements of reggae, drum n bass, dubstep, hip-hop and rock into their own fusion of dub flavoured music with powerful high-energy performances that leave crowds wanting more.

Nga Tae
A strong and fresh combination of electronica, taonga puoro and Te Reo vocals. Nga Tae comprises, Dr Richard Nunns, Horomona Horo, Waimihi Hotere and Paddy Free. Nga Tae have achieved remarkable success in their short life and Byron Bay Fest organiser Peter Noble describes them as one of the top ten performances he has ever seen.

Mamaku Project
Mamaku Project weaves smooth jazz with a French lilt, Pacifica dub and scents of the Middle East into a fresh and colourful style. A very impressive show including sultry and moody dub, mixed with quintessentially French and bohemian melodies and enchanting elements of the east.

Tomorrow People
Tomorrow People are purveyors of what they describe as ‘sunshine reggae’. Focused on providing a mid-tempo sound that, while clearly reggae-centric, adds touches of dancehall ragga to its colour. It is a sound built around strong vocals, soothing harmonies, catchy hooks, aggressive ragga raps, and feel good rhythms.

Eddie Numbers
This four piece group is quickly getting a name on the Auckland music scene for their exciting, high energy hip-hop/ live rap/ street soul performances where rehearsed songs are interspersed with improvised rhymes. Numbers has had bookings with some of NZ’s biggest live acts which have seen their following grow rapidly.

Scratch 22
Already an established DJ, representing NZ at the Redbull Thre3style world finals in Paris 2010, Scratch 22’s recent focus has been on his original music and remixes. Early 2011 saw him releasing his debut album “Distance From View” (Round Trip Mars) to critical acclaim and single “Medicine Man” topping the Radioscope Alt charts for radio play, as well as placement on international compilations from Nightmares on Wax, Ministry of Sound, and DJ Kicks.

The Nudge
The Nudge pie is a concotion of a blues and rock base, with a deep swamp filling, and a raucous party crust. Singer, and principal songwriter Ryan Prebble is the swampy bluesman. His gritty tone and brutal blues vocals are laced with messages of social values, personal freedom and the ways of love. James Coyle produces savage tones on a vintage organ, that effortlessly swirl around like a Leslie Cabinet, with warm low frequency modulations of keyboard bass that will crisp an crust. Add to the mix the solid thunderous, tribal, uniquely funky jackhammer beats of Iraia Whakamoe, and you have The Nudge.
