Strummerday is a celebration of the life and music of the late Joe Strummer of The Clash and Mescaleros. This year would have marked Joe's 60th Birthday. Artists perform their own music with tributes to Joe as they wish. This year, we are honoured to welcome the following artists to the Strummerday family:

The Newmatics:
They're back with a renewed vigour after supporting The Specials on their recent NZ tour & looking forward to paying tribute to one of their biggest influences. These legends of NZ ska make a rare appearance for this one off event, celebrating what would have been Joe Strummer's 60th birthday.

The Bank Robbers:
Featuring Andrew Boak (No Tag) & Jed Town (The Features/Fetus Productions), plus members of Big Jobs & Clampdown. Truly an all-star band, two of NZ's most renowned punk veterans join with members of current NZ punk bands to pay tribute to the legendary Joe strummer & The Clash...

The Skitz (formerly the Managers):
With a long history in the NZ ska scene, The Managers have undergone some dramatic changes in the last few years, & have emerged with a new name & a new energy which can only be described as explosive, fresh sounds from an old band with a new outlook & a vibrant new show...

DJ Dubhead
Radio BFM's legendary ska/dub DJ, paying tribute to Joe strummer in his own unique way...

Thank you
