The Wellington Youth Choir will make a rare appearance at Rotorua Museum as part of its Bay of Plenty Tour.

The choir, first formed in 1989, has built a reputation for its exciting and unique performances, with concerts that draw from a wide range of genres and cultures. All singers are aged 18-26, with a mixture of university students and young professionals - including many members of the New Zealand Youth Choir and New Zealand School of Music. Since the beginning of 2011 the choir has been led by experienced choral director Katie Macfarlane, who brings a demand for excellence and a sense of fun to every performance.

Rehearsals are held every Monday through the University year, the tour being the end result of those many months of dedication. For this concert a typically diverse mixture of music has been chosen including a Columbian dancing tune, a patriotic Argentinean ballad, a Haitian motivational song, excerpts from Mozart’s Requiem, and music of New Zealand amongst other choir favourites.

Starting at 12noon, this concert will take place in the Upper Foyer of Rotorua Museum.

Entry to concert is included in admission price, which is free for locals with relevant ID.
