Auckland’s St Heliers will host the World Champs Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon event in October this year, allowing kids from the ages of seven to fifteen to be part of a world championship event.

The event is part of the Barfoot & Thompson World Championship Series Grand Final, which is being hosted in Auckland from 14-22 October, bringing the sport’s superstars from over 20 countries to New Zealand.

Many of the country’s triathlon champions have been past participants in the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon events, including Andrea Hewitt, who finished sixth at the recent London Olympics.

The Barfoot & Thompson World Championship Series Grand Final will be the biggest triathlon event in the world this year, post the London Olympics. With kids having marvelled and been inspired by the deeds of the world’s sporting elite at the Olympics in recent weeks, the World Champs Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon will be their opportunity to participate in a professionally organised sporting event.

Entries for the World Champs Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon have just opened, with kids from the ages of seven to fifteen able to register at the website.
