Another great line-up showcasing the amazing talent in the Acoustic Routes community.

Blakewater Blues, Ron Craig and Nigel Parry (and friends).

Nigel Parry is rapidly becoming an established player around Wellington, bringing his strong, mellow voice and sympathetic guitar sounds to songs old and new, traditional and his own compositions.
Reviewing a recent gig at the Malthouse, Peter Dyer had the following to say: "Playing ukelele and guitar, Nigel skilfully entertained and engaged the audience... Irish modern folk to American jazz/blues to bluegrass to New England folk and back to modern Irish pop... Well done, Nigel – I enjoyed the musical journey."

This performance will feature solo songs, plus special guests one of the best folk guitarists in the region, more musicians and even four part harmonies.

Blakewater Blues are Murray Kilpatrick and Gordon Chamley. Expect wide-ranging authentic acoustic blues from this relaxed duo, featuring finger-style guitar and blues harmonica. Whether you like your blues slow and soulful, light and bouncy, or with a little bit of tongue in cheek, you'll find it all here - covers of famous bluesmen such as Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Lightnin' Hopkins, Leadbelly and Mississippi John Hurt, plus originals in a similar traditional vein.

Special guest with Blakewater Blues is the delightful blues/jazz vocalist Sue Rose who sings regularly with Murray in their own band, Sage, and also with 10DD the a capella 10CC tribute group.

Ron Craig has been a stalwart of the Wellington folk scene for quite a few decades. He describes his music as ‘country folk’. His exquisite guitar style and gently soulful voice have earned him many fans in the scene - a performance by Ron is always a treat.

Entry: $15, $10 Acoustic Routes members and students.
