The Wurlitzer Organ Trust of Auckland takes you back to the golden years of going to the movies, the glorious silent movie era.
These motion pictures were brought to life, first by costly orchestras and then in the 1920s, by the MIGHTY Wurlitzer pipe organ. This unique pipe organ has all the tonal resources of the symphony orchestra including its own percussion section of drums, cymbals, piano, harp, xylophone etc - all real "live" percussion instruments - truly a one-man unit orchestra.
Join us for a program that includes a “play-in” by Auckland's historic Wurlitzer organ, early sound movie shorts and then our main feature, the silent movie comedy – Charlie Chaplin’s “The Circus” from 1928.
Experience how the Wurlitzer pipe organ brings the silent movie to life!!
Cost: $20 payable at the venue.
