A play by Robert Lord, directed by Doug Buchanan.

Bert, a retired carpenter, brings home a young, travelling stranger. After some initial trepidation, he and his wife, Maisy, take on a jaunty new lease of life and welcome Tom into their home.

Their unconventional behaviour is regarded with horror by Maisy's niece, the homely and status-conscious Shona, and her up-and-coming insurance businessman husband, Grant.

This comedy play, which has touches of drama and pathos, is set in small town New Zealand in the 1960s.

Bert and Maisy has been serialised on NZ radio and was turned into a serio-comic 7 part television series.
