Cambridge Repertory Society presents "Calendar Girls", a comedy by Tim Firth.
Directed by David Moore.

Season: 2nd March-16th March at the Gaslight Theatre.

The famous story of a Yorkshire WI raising money, and eyebrows, by selling a calendar with a difference!

In 1998, Angela (Annie) Baker lost her husband (John) to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 54 years old. Calendar Girls tells the true story of a small group of ordinary everyday friends from the local Women’s Institute (WI), who took the extraordinary step of posing for an ‘alternative’ calendar to raise money for this cold, silent killer that is called cancer.

The overwhelming result of their efforts came to the attention of TV and Film screenwriter Tim Firth and in 2003 the Calendar Girls movie was released starring Julie Walters and Helen Mirren.

In 2012, Tim Firth gave permission for amateur theatre societies worldwide to perform the play for a limited period, in order to raise the profile of this horrible disease and to raise yet more funds for blood cancer.

The ‘Gaslight’ theatre has a stellar line up of cast members old and new, including David Artis (John), Lesley Nielsen (Annie), Phillippa Sherry (Chris), Tracey Barlow (Cora), Robyn Chapell (Ruth), Kim Burn (Jessie), Jo Bishop (Celia), Sara Young (Lady Cravenshire), Pauline Connell (Marie), Jason Lonsdale (Rod), Ryan Holden (Liam), Richard Wright (Lawrence) and Amelia Williams (Elaine).
