The Zonta Club of Auckland warmly invite you to join us at Khartoum Place when we celebrate the achievements of women and champion equality for all women worldwide.

Starting at 12:30pm, there will be speeches by Dame Catherine Tizard, former Mayor if Auckland & past Governor General; Sandra Coney, Auckland Councillor & Chair of the Parks, Recreation & Heritage Forum. We will also hear from Nupur Upadhyay 2012 winner of the Zonta International ‘Women in Business’ scholarship and Fatumata Bah our 2011 Young Woman in Public Affairs winner.

Following on from the formalities we follow the parade of music and dance to the Town Hall Reception Lounge where we will be greeted by the Mayor, enjoy more performers, see displays and have tea and refreshments courtesy of the Auckland Council.

In 1975 United Nations proclaimed 8 March to be International Women’s Day because it was considered that empowering women and girls is essential in the global drive to eliminate poverty and achieve social justice. For nearly 50 years International Women’s Day has been recognised around the world. Each country has the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of its women without any distinction, whether ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political, and to support the full and equal participation of women.
