"Ladies and Gentlemen, you are about to hear a story of Murder, Greed, Corruption, Exploitation, Adultery and Treachery. All those things we hold near and dear to our hearts ... Thank you"

From our audiences:
- I cannot believe how good "Chicago" at the Playhouse actually is.
- If you want to see a good show and be blown away and transported to a different place and into a different really nice buzzy mood, I suggest you go and see it.
- It is a show of epic proportions!
- Chicago Absolutely brilliant! Congratulations to you all.

- Amazing show was a triumph.
- It was fantastic! Wow! Highly recommend it to everyone.

Playhouse's version of Chicago pays homage to Fosse, vaudeville and the legendary days of old where an actor and a spotlight were all you needed to entertain!

Chicago showing now - short season - don't miss it!!

PTI presents Chicago A Musical Vaudeville.

- Book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse.
- Music by John Kander and Lyrics by Fred Ebb.
- Based on the play Chicago by Maurine Dallas Watkins.
- By arrangement with Origin Theatrical on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.

In this age of overnight superstars, celebrity crime and 'famous for being famous' reality TV, Chicago's story seems more relevant today than ever before.

Velma Kelly - celebrity queen, Roxie Hart - ambitious ingenue, Billy Flynn - smooth-talking lawyer with the ole 'razzle-dazzle' and Amos Hart - Mr Nobody who becomes Somebody as he tries desperately to gain the attention and love of his wife Roxie.

Some of the most legendary song and dance musical numbers litter the entertaining storyline complete with true show stopping Fosse-inspired choreography: 'All That Jazz,' 'Mister Cellophane,' 'Cell Block Tango' and 'Razzle Dazzle.'

So much better than reality TV, PTI's Chicago brings these larger than life characters to the stage alongside a full live orchestra - it's tangible, tempting, sexy, seductive and sultry.

Starring
- Jessie Graham (NZ Opera, Madame Butterfly, Opera Risque) as Roxie Hart
- Rachael Adams (Spring Awakening - Auckland Fringe) as Velma Kelly
- Warrick Hunter (Sweeney Todd - Edinburgh Music Theatre) as Billy Flynn

Featuring an all-star chorus and dance ensemble, the comedic talents of Paul Dickens as Amos Hart, and the powerful vocal prowess of Sharon Hewlett as Mama Morton, Chicago is set to stun.

History: Chicago premiered on Broadway in 1975 and went on to receive 10 Tony Award nominations the following year including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The revival in 1996 has become the longest running musical revival in history and has won six Drama Desk Awards, five Critic Circle Awards, and six Tony Awards. In 2002, Miramax made Chicago into a movie starring Hollywood superstars Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere, The film, like the musical, has had great success, winning six Academy Awards.
