Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park is delighted to announce that top recording star Stan Walker will be the headline act at the twentieth anniversary performance of the popular Christmas musical extravaganza.

Fresh from his sell-out national tour, Stan will join the stars of TV3’s X-Factor NZ Jackie Thomas, Benny Tipene and Anna Wilson, R’n’B artist Vince Harder, rocker Michael Murphy, solo artist Jae’O, singer/songwriter Ainslie Allen and popular entertainer Drew Neemia - to name just a few of the star-studded lineup confirmed for this year’s event.

They’ll join the “godparents” of the iconic show, Jackie Clarke and Frankie Stevens and four backing vocalists led by Sharon Emirali, in a 600 strong cast of singers, dancers and performers for what organisers are promising will be one of the most spectacular shows ever performed on the big stage.

Show producer Jade Turrall says, “We have a record number of artists in this year’s show – some we discovered through our auditions, some are returning favourites, and some are recent TV stars. They’re set to deliver a magical, multi-cultural mix of world class entertainment, enhanced by a laser light show and topped off by a spectacular fireworks finale!”

“Coca-Cola is delighted to be celebrating the twentieth year of Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park,” says Paul Fitzgerald, general manager of Coca-Cola Oceania. “This has been our gift to New Zealand since 1994 and we’ve enjoyed many happy nights with our friends and families at this special free outdoor event. It’s a wonderful way to start the festive season and bring people together to enjoy what’s often described as the happiest night of the year. ”

This year Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park continues to support Surf Life Saving New Zealand in their efforts to ensure Kiwis have a safe summer at the beach. You can support them by purchasing Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park merchandise, buying an exclusive souvenir programme or by texting to donate on the night.

Headline act Stan Walker will also show his support by encouraging the crowd to “Light up the park for Surf” using their cell phones to text and donate. Singing star and recently qualified lifeguard Jamie McDell, makes a return appearance in support of Surf Life Saving, during the Ambassadors’ message at 7.15pm on the night of the concert.

Lifeguards dressed in their signature red and yellow uniforms will also be out and about bucket collecting in the crowds throughout the event so don’t forget your gold coins.

The popular free musical event will be hosted by TV3 comedian Jeremy Corbett at the Auckland Domain on Saturday 14th December. In co-operation with the Police and Auckland Council this event is alcohol free.

Highlights from the concerts can be seen in the special 90 minute broadcast on TV3.
