Two Operetta's Staring - Andrew Grenon, Bianca Andrew & Matt Landreth

Ticket 66 -
Offenbach’s witty operetta Ticket Sixty Six was composed and first performed in Paris in 1856. A young Tyrolean woman, Gretchen, has received a letter from her sister, now married and living in Strasbourg. The sister’s husband has gone missing: he went by ship to America to purchase goods to retail as a travelling salesman, and hasn’t been heard of for months. Full of concern, Gretchen decides she must go to Strasbourg to help her sister and the children. Franz, her boyfriend, can’t bear to be left alone so tags along. En route... the story takes several unexpected twists....

Mr Polly at the Powell Inn
John Drummond’s Mr Polly at the Potwell Inn was composed in 1997 to a libretto by Jeremy Commons, based on an episode from H. G. Wells’s novel The History of Mr Polly. It was first performed in Dunedin in 2000 and in Wellington in 2001. Mr Polly is a shopkeeper who tires of the retail trade, burns down his shop and becomes a gentleman of the road. One day he arrives at the Potwell Inn, on the banks of the River Thames, and there encounters the landlady, Mrs Perks....

It's amazing what encounters you face on the road...
