“Flames to dust / Lovers to friends / Why do all good things come to an end”

That line comes courtesy of one of the greatest and most inspired poets of our generation, Nelly Furtado. Perhaps it’s an odd way to begin an invitation to the Departure Club Christmas party but hear me out. Like our girl Nelly we’ve decided to focus on some bigger projects next year. It's with a heavy heart and small boner that we announce this will be our very last monthly party at 1885.

To celebrate three years of getting wild downtown we’re throwing a shindig that would make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window.

DPTRCLB DJs – it's been quite the residency and I can promise these guys are going out with a monumental SPLA$H.

Taste Nasa – this dude has good hair, a great sense of hygiene, licks like Simba and dance moves like your gran on acid. Sold?

Spycc – aside from Dressmart and the Hard To Find Bookstore, Spycc is the best thing to ever come out of Onehunga. Find out what all the fuss is about here: spyccmusic.tumblr.com

Jay Knight – "Part of the Young Gifted and Broke collective, Jay Rangi was conceived the same year Illmatic was released. Jay has had his name deservedly applied to many of New Zealand's pivotal hip hop productions, including @Peace's Girl Song's EP."

Maximus Hush – “Girl, you got that sex weed / I just want to hit it all the time”. R Kels sums up my feelings to Mr Hush.

Night Guy – imagine riding naked on a motorbike facing Kanye West while he whispers gently to you ‘step back, can't get spunk on the mink’.

The Crabmayne – the only scummy party photographer aside from the Cobrasnake to ever get his name on a poster. Well played pal.

Goldblum & Secure – aside from making out with Taylor Swift’s mind in a tour bus, getting jiggy with Michael J Fox in an elevator and grabbing burgers with Diplo these two haven’t been up to much except for creating a very special Christmas party set.

There will be all kinds of Xmas treats on the night and a bucket load of slippery drink specials.

Thanks for bearing with us,

DPTRCLB – going off like Daniel Bedingfield that time he got his towel stolen after he played the Studio.

P.S. Over summer we’ll be getting maggot at R’n’V and boshing some nos at Big Day Out. If you’re around feel free to come and get tropical with us.
