Are you keen to improve the natural environment on your property, but need some help? Two workshops are being held to help landowners complete funding applications for the Rodney Natural Heritage (RNH) fund, the Environmental Initiatives Fund and the Rodney Environmental Education Fund.

The first round of the Rodney Natural Heritage (RNH) fund is now accepting applications. The purpose of the Rodney Natural Heritage fund is to assist and actively encourage the Rodney community to manage, protect and enhance biodiversity, indigenous vegetation and wildlife habitats on their properties. The fund is open to applications from individuals or voluntary groups who intend to carry out environmental projects within the legacy Rodney District Council boundaries.

The Environmental Initiatives Fund (EIF) opens on 19 August 2013. EIF provides funding, practical support and advice to members of the community to help them protect and enhance their local environment and heritage.

Notes: Max grant $5000; AC contribution max 50% of project cost; In kind contributions can be made: vol labour $15/per hr unskilled / $25 per hr skilled labour;

Fund Name: Environmental Initiatives Fund (EIF) (Region wide fund)
Fund purpose: EIF provides funding, practical support and advice to members of the community to help them protect and enhance their local environment and heritage
Fund opens: 19 August 2013
Fund closes: 26 September 2013
Decisions expected by: December 2013
Notes: Max grant $15,000; AC contribution max 50% of project cost; In kind contributions can be made: vol labour $15/per hr unskilled / $25 per hr skilled labour;

Fund Name: Rodney Environmental Education (REEF) (Rodney District Council legacy boundary)
Fund purpose: Assist community groups and schools to actively participate in environmental projects and sustainability initiatives that have an educational focus
Fund opens: Applications taken all year round till funds allocated
Fund closes: NA
Decisions expected by: Year round.
