Gap Filler’s Pallet Pavilion is one of Christchurch’s most interesting temporary architecture structures. A community events venue, it was built from 3000 pallets in late 2012.

The talk will feature a discussion of the various design constraints that influenced the project such as the requirements that unskilled volunteers build the Pavilion and that the pallets go back into circulation upon completion of the project. The team will talk about how the project evolved over the two month design period and then the challenging 6-week build. Questions are welcomed and encouraged about any aspect of the project – from the build to day-to-day operations, the amazingly successful fundraising campaign and the future of the space.

This talk will feature members of the project design team including architect Camia Young, structural engineer Luis Castillo (Aurecon) and Gap Filler Director and Co-Founder Coralie Winn.
