Pregnancy is a time when nutritional needs are higher, and meeting those needs has a positive effect on the health of both the mother and her unborn baby. Recent clinical studies and reviews have shown a positive association between a healthy diet during the periods of preconception and pregnancy, and improved birth outcomes. Babies born to well-nourished mothers are more likely to be conceived more easily, be carried to term, be born in robust health, feed vigorously, grow optimally, and be alert and responsive. With this, the mother can be physically and emotionally in control transition through the post conception period. As a result high-quality nutrition can be viewed as one of the manageable gifts a mother-to-be can give to herself, her unborn baby and her family. This above-average start brings with it health advantages that last a lifetime.

As times of preconception and pregnancy are periods of increased interest, need and search for nutrition-related information, this seminar aim to provide women with simple, accurate and implementable nutritional information for the key conception, birth and beyond stages.
