In term three of this year, Knighton Normal School focused on persistence.

Children from Room 27 demonstrated persistence by creating quill disks for personal and class art.

Quilling is an art technique that using strips of coloured paper rolled and glued together to create decorative designs. Paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is then glued at the tip and these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

The children worked slowly and persistently so the quill disks do not fall apart and unravel. Students combined colours that complement each other in order to create their artwork.

The combined class art Heart and Soul took over 250 hours to complete. It was designed and created by: Mohamud, Najma, Jahntae, Sivani, Parth, Bronwyn, Levi, J-Rose, Matilda, Dylan, Emily, Kaia, Esther, Haikal, Tui, Harry, Maire, Rauiti, Lara, Tanner, Finlay, Jay, Jaymee, Mark and Shelley.
