Acoustic Routes presents: Himmerland - New Roots Music from Denmark.

Himmerland is a group of five travelling musicians, each carrying very different life stories and traditions in their rucksacks. They come from Denmark, Poland and Ghana, in West Africa.
They take their name from the beautiful wide-skied northern part of Jutland called Himmerland, in Denmark, where they first met. They compose their own music and infuse it with all the different traditions that run in their blood.

They have taken their music to Europe, Russia, Canada, South America, and now, Australia and New Zealand.

Himmerland is:
Eskil Romme (Soprano sax) Eskil has been mixing traditional Danish music, jazz and related genres during his 30 years of playing. Eskil last performed in New Zealand with the band Færd.
Kirstine Sand (Violin) who will be replacing the regular fiddler, Ditte Fromseier Hockings on this tour.
Andrzej Krejniuk (Electric bass-guitar) is from Poland but has lived in Denmark most of his life. He is an extraordinary musician and composer, and an outstanding solo player, performing and recording internationally on the jazz and world music scenes.
Ayi Solomon (Percussion) is from Ghana, but has been living in Copenhagen for many years. Solomon has been recognized as a top percussionist and dancer, performing world wide with professional bands and projects.
Morten Alfred Høirup (Guitars & vocals) is from Copenhagen. Morten has been a professional musician for more than 25 years and the winner of Danish music awards (including "Folk Composer of the Year 2004" and "Prize of Honour" in 2012). He is known for his work with the Danish duo Haugaard & Høirup and the Danish-Finnish-American trio, American Café Orchestra.
