House of Shem will never forget their roots and where it all started. It all started in Whanganui in the late 90's when Ex Herbs member Carl Perkins returned back to the River after years of touring with bands like Herbs, Mana, 12 Tribes of Israel, he started House of Shem between Ratana Paa and Whanganui where he had a outlet for Youth to compose, record and perform music on Taupo quay. Carl formed the record label Southgate Entertainment and out of this reformed the band House of Shem with his sons, Te Omeka, Isaaih & Joshua Perkins in 2004.

House of Shem released the first single 'Keep Rising' on the conscious Roots 2 album in 2005 which led them to play big shows which eventually headed towards the debut album 'Keep Rising' that was certified Gold status. They followed up with the second album 'Island Vibration' that was recorded and mixed by Bob Marley's personal engineer Errol Brown at Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica. 'Island Vibration' debuted at number 1 on the official NZ music charts and Itunes.

House of Shem have since then toured the world including United States, Hawaii, Australia, New Caledonia and are currently ready to tour again in the same areas and looking at branching of to Europe this year.

The band is currently recording the third studio album with singles released already which include "Hard Road" which is featuring one of the worlds greatest reggae bands 'Big Mountain' who were famous for the pop reggae hit 'Baby i love your Way'

Supporting House of Shem on the tour is up and coming reggae dancehall sensation 'dj Sito' who hails from Chile and is currently signed to House of Shem's record label and is ready to release music in May 2013.
