The Health Promotion Agency (HPA) was established under legislation to lead and support national public health initiatives. The aim of the HPA is to inspire New Zealanders to lead healthier lives.

The HPA’s work spans a range of major public health topics including immunisation, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, rheumatic fever, mental health, minimising gambling harm, tobacco control and sun safety. Our work around alcohol seeks to reduce alcohol-related harm in New Zealand and includes a special responsibility to give evidence-based advice to the government, industry and others in this area. This seminar will give an overview about the HPA’s activities around tobacco control, nutrition, and physical activity.

Laurianne Reinsborough is General Manager, Operations, at HPA. Mary-Ann Carter is Nutrition and Physical Activity Manager. Kath Blair is Tobacco Control and Sun Safety Manager.
