Professor Jonathan Mane-Wheoki explores the development of realist and impressionist landscape works, painted en plein air, sur le motif – outdoors from direct observation. Masterpieces created in this way by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, and others feature in Te Papa’s new exhibition Colour & Light: Impressionism from France & America.

Professor Mane-Wheoki is the new Head of Arts & Visual Cultures at Te Papa.
