Please join us for an informative and interactive workshop on the essentials of natural building. With Innermost community gardens as our drawing board, we will take you through the following hands-on sessions:
- reading the landscape;
- essentials of natural building and site adaptive design;
- practical session on natural building with stack foundation construction, adobe brick and cob;
- earthen plaster.
Please bring:
- Clothes to jump in the mud with;
- Writing materials (fine and thick black felt pens and markers would help);
- Ipod / Ipad with "Handy level app" (if you've got one.).
Instructor Bio:
James Richardson has taught Natural Building and Permaculture workshops at OUR Ecovillage, B.C., Lost Valley Education Centre, OR, University of Northern British Columbia and University of Victoria. He brings an experiential flare to his teachings, following a teaching career in Canada, New Zealand, and the United States, and teacher training at Queen’s University in Outdoor and Experiential Education. James has studied Landscape Architecture, Permaculture, Natural Building, biodynamic farming and community and brings to the space a deep understanding of the art and science of sustainability.
