Jean Deroyer Conductor
Amy Dickson Saxophone

Ravel: Ma Mere l’Oye (Mother Goose) ‘5 pieces enfantines’
Dubois: Saxophone Concerto
Dukas: Symphony in C

Let conductor Jean Deroyer guide you through a programme of music from his native France. This is French music at its best, full of sparkling melodies, both enchanting and impressionistic. Ravel’s whimsical suite of fairytale pieces perfectly captures the French mood, with typical Gallic (and Ravelian) elegance and beauty.

Australian Amy Dickson returns as soloist for Pierre Dubois’ saxophone concerto, a dazzling showpiece of instrumental virtuosity, and the concert comes to a roaring finale with Dukas’s Symphony in C, written shortly before the turn of the century.
