A show about the love, obsession and insanity for New Zealand’s biggest export since spreadable butter.

Having been cancelled due to the fire at The Maidment 2 weeks ago, the show is back on at 1885. Big thanks to the venue for helping us out at such short notice.

Miss La Vida, burlesque powerhouse and all-round funny person, presents her one-woman show about Karl Urban and his legions of adoring fans around the globe. She displays the various ways in which their fandom manifests and presents the more unusual, amusing and slightly terrifying examples of his fans’ dedications and not-so-subtle expressions of feelings for him.

Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, George Clooney; the Hollywood sex symbols you’d expect to be the subject of intense fandom. Karl Urban, on the other hand, is an unlikely candidate for Hollywood hunk since he shies away from the limelight, still lives in New Zealand and is mostly known for doing nerdy films and TV shows.

And yet, he has a plethora of dedications to him including, fan art, fan fiction, YouTube montages, forums and websites. Miss La Vida explores all of these forms of worship in her show through a combination of slides, videos and live performance.

The show also features, The Nudey Ukes, who have written songs about their love for Karl Urban and his fans. They are immensely proud to be the first group, they believe, to write songs about both Karl and his fans and to add to the collection of Urban fan manifestations.

In short, the show is a revelation and celebration of the ‘fangasms’ Karl Urban inspires.

Please note, there are only 50 tickets available per night. Door sales only.
