The Scholars Pro Musica with Consort of instruments present:
Mozart's famous Coronation Mass and Haydn's lovely Saint Nicolas Mass played in one beautiful concert, right here in the Mount!

Musical Director, Chalium Poppy

The Scholars present two of the most charming and exciting masses of the great contemporaries Mozart and Haydn. These two works mark the epoch of Viennese church music during the late 18th century.
Mozart's Mass in C, was most certainly written for Easter Sunday, but soon, however, adopted the name "Coronation" as it swiftly became the preferred setting for royal and imperial coronations because of its grandeur and magnificent orchestral and choral colouring.

Haydn's Mass in G is the only mass of Haydn's to be directly connected to his time spend in dutiful service to the Esterhazy court. As its nickname suggests, the Mass was most likely written for the Feast Day of St. Nicholas which was also the name day of Prince Nikolaus Esterházy.

For this concert, the Scholars are joined by the Scholars Consort of instruments and line up of talented guest soloists.
