Come along to hear from Graeme Young, member of Kaharoa Kokako Trust, speak briefly about the history of the KKT, since it was founded in 1997 after local residents realised that they could make a difference in saving the local remnant population of this iconic bird - the kokako. Graeme will also descibe some of the successes and give an insight into how a Trust run by volunteers can succeed in a changing beaurocratic world.
This talk will be followed later in the year by a walk in the bush to attempt to see or hear some of the local resident birds.
This event has been organised by the Committee of Rotorua branch of Forest and Bird. Everyone is welcome. Gold coin donation at the door. Supper provided.
Please contact Sandra 362 8865 if you require further information.
