This is a free event open to everybody with an interest in mosaic art, be they artists, budding artists or admirers.

Six artists share stories and pictures about their work and experiences with mosaic.

Janice Corbishley – Monte Cassino torso
Janice will share her experience of exhibiting in Monte Cassino in May 2010 as one of 40 selected artists. She will share how her exhibited mosaic brings together ‘the pieces’ of the story of her Uncle Trevor and the 26th Battalion at Cassino during World War Two.

Crack’d for Christchurch
“Please help us save a tiny part of the old Christchurch we love. Do you have china, plates, vases, cups that were broken in the earthquakes but are still precious to you?” This plea went out from a group of Christchurch mosaic artists after the 22 February 2011 earthquake. This presentation shares what happened next.

John Botica – Power of pebbles
John will share his journey of discovery of the power of pebbles as a medium in mosaic art. His passion for pebble mosaic has led to some exciting public commissions and international recognition.

Kate Millington – Grey Lynn Community Centre mosaic
Kate will share experiences of creating large mosaics for public places in Auckland, including for the Grey Lynn Community Centre and the entrance sign to Titirangi.

Louise Herdman – Gems from a mosaic tour of Italy
Louise will return in October from a 15 days tour of Italy specifically dedicated to mosaic. What timing! We’ve asked her to share some select gems from the tour.

Dominic Johns - Telescopus
Australian mosaic artist and guest judge Dominic Johns shares the story of Telescopus, a large sculptural mosaic displayed at Cairns Esplanade in Australia.
