The Marton Harvest Fair is on again... Come and celebrate the harvest season in true country fashion. With plenty of great stalls, food, music and fun. A day to bring the family, join your friends and neighbors and celebrate our history and harvest.

This is our day to celebrate our history, our heritage, our culture and our identity as a rural New Zealand town. It is our day to celebrate our harvest in the myriad forms it takes in our region. It is a day to let our hair down, to picnic together, enjoy the music and find all the gifts we need for the family, and treats we wanted for ourselves. With stalls for everything from pickles and jams, paintings & pots, garden ornaments to jewellery, food and pot plants, it is a day where you will get everything you would expect at a Harvest fair, good food, great stalls and fantastic entertainment, fun activities, and then some things you didn't expect - heard of goose herding? Well you soon will. It is a day for fun, flair and families. Come along and join us for the day.

We are so pleased to announce that legendary local fellow Chad Chambers will be our MC for the day, and will even do a few sets for us. The Marton Country Music band will also be playing through out the day.

If you would like a stall for the day, get your registration form here from our website.

Marton is the malting capital of New Zealand! So it is only fitting we have our own Home Brew Competition. But just to let you know the competition is strong. One of Marton's favourite pastimes is home brewing, maybe born from our origins, right back before Marton was Marton. We were a little town a few miles down the road, someone suggested we should be a dry town so the locals uplifted all their belongings and moved further up the road and established Marton as well as some pretty impressive stills. Marton is also home to Malteurop, NZs largest malting plant. If you would like to enter your brew into our competition feel free to grab a registration form from: projectmarton@xtra.co.nz.

Harvest time is also scarecrow time. So the local businesses, residents and organisations create a new scarecrow each year to help celebrate our rural connections. If you are local and haven't got your entry form yet pick it up from the Project Marton office, or alternatively you can email to projectmarton@xtra.co.nz

Big, small, decorated, baked... pumpkins galore! The Harvest Festival is home to the pumpkins and all their myriad of varieties. Bring your pumpkin creation on the day by 9.00am and go in to win.

The Ultimate Scone Jam and Cream Experience with Ruth Pretty
Everyone loves scones, jam and cream: they are part of our heritage. But why should settle for ordinary scones when you can produce scones with attitude? A dab hand, top caterer and author Ruth Pretty has made literally thousands of scones and says they should hold no fear. She will share tips, techniques and recipes for reliably light and tasty scones ranging from everyday to designer versions. Those all-important accompaniments of home-made jam and perfectly whipped cream also come under Ruth’s scrutiny with big issues like ensuring jams and jellies are flavourful and set readily, and whether to sugar or not to sugar the cream addressed in her forthright and good-humoured style. You will taste Ruth’s scones and take the recipes home to delight friends and family.

Come and see Ruth Pretty's demonstrations and be in to win an autographed cookbook.
