Te Tuhi is a contemporary art gallery presenting exhibitions and projects by New Zealand and international artists.

Because Te Tuhi serves as a focal point in the community for events and community groups it is the perfect place to celebrate Matariki with a packed week of events in June 2013.
Experience the varied ways in which Matariki has relevance to everyday life, and engage with the Matariki at a hands-on level.

Featuring:

Te Tuhi Billboards Exhibition
Te Tuhi enlists a prominent contemporary artist of Māori descent to present three works for Te Tuhi billboards on Reeves Road.

Traditional toy making workshop
Children will be able to build and play with traditional Māori toys.

Monday at Te Tuhi - Mural unveiling event
Our schools educator has been working in collaboration with Māori artist Dion Hitchens and two local kura to produce a unique Matariki inspired large-scale mural, to be displayed at Te Tuhi.

Tuesday at Te Tuhi - Local kuia
Taini Drummond will host an enchanting morning of storytelling for local preschools.

Thursday at Te Tuhi –Short-film night
This short-film night celebrates NZ cinema and will have a particular focus on films inspired by the many concepts relating to Matariki.

Friday at Te Tuhi – Lunchtime concert
Te Tuhi Café was voted Best Cafe in Pakuranga for the past six years. Te Tuhi will host a Matariki lunchtime concert, featuring an acoustic performer.

Saturday at Te Tuhi – Weaving workshop
Come and learn the important ancient skill of weaving with this interactive weaving workshop.
