The SQL Server Reporting Services course is designed to provide training in how to understand, design and implement reporting solutions using SQL Server's reporting solutions.

All training courses in the Microsoft BI Academy program are two days in duration, and have been specifically designed to enable students to quickly commence developing and maintaining state-of-the-art integrated Business Intelligence (BI) solutions developed by using Microsoft products.

Each training course consists of theory, demonstrations and numerous hands-on labs that will provide students with the opportunity to understand the full potential of the Microsoft BI platform and gain invaluable experience through hands-on interaction.

After completing this training course, students will be able to:

Translate business requirements into effective reporting solutions
Understand the features and benefits delivered by each mode of Reporting Services
Develop libraries of reports based on relational, multidimensional and data mining data source types, and by using rich data visualizations and interactivity features
Optimize report execution and implement report and report data security requirements
Automate the delivery of reports by using subscriptions
Support self-service BI by publishing report components
Apply important administrative practices to a Reporting Services instance
Programmatically embed reports and basic reporting functionality into applications

This training course is based on SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services in Native mode, and the content can also be applied to SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services in SharePoint mode (SharePoint 2010 or 2013).

Report Builder is covered in the Microsoft Self-Service BI training course.

The Microsoft BI Academy program has been designed for a broad array of professionals, including IT managers, IT professionals, developers and business analysts. Apart from having a basic understanding of database technologies, there are no specific technology or product prerequisites.

This training course was not specifically designed to prepare students for a Microsoft certification. However, the content delivered in this training course will serve as a useful resource for introducing theory, products and best practice design patterns that are tested by the Microsoft certification exams.
