New Zealand Guitar Quartet (NZGQ) in concert with the New Zealand School of Music and Manawatu's High Schools Guitar Orchestra.

After a whirlwind 2011 tour schedule of nearly 20 concerts across the length of the country, the NZGQ is quickly developing a following with invitations to perform both locally and overseas. Concert highlights include the New Zealand premiere of the Rodrigo Guitar Quartet Concerto Andaluz with the Nelson Symphony, engagements at the International Chamber Music Festival, Nelson, a national tour with Chamber Music NZ 2013.

The NZGQ are performing in Palmerston North as a group and with Jeanette McGrath's newly formed Manawatu Secondary School Orchestra, with the help of some New Zealand School of Music graduate students.

NZGQ members, Owen Moriarty, Tim Watanabe (a palmy boy who went to PNBHS and learnt from Jeanette), Christopher Hill and Jane Curry have garnered acclaim as soloists on concert stages around the world and in a multitude of international guitar competitions, with each member contributing their individual strengths toward creating an exciting, dynamic and engaging ensemble.

Repertoire for the 2013 concert series ranges from the classical to the contemporary, featuring expert arrangements of Bach's Third Brandenburg Concerto and Manual de Falla's El Amor Brujo, Ian Krouse's astonishing neo renaissance Antique Suite as well as cutting edge home grown music by New Zealand composers.

This will be an outstanding evening of entertainment. Not to be missed.
